SUPERHEROES in Bucharest

SUPERHEROES in Bucharest

In the real world, few have the power to generate striking heroes and engaging stories, to draw us into the realm of fantasy and make our imagination roam free. We have come to call these gifted people authors. About a year ago, we set out on a quest to find such authors. These were not however the authors that we know of, but the authors that are yet to come, young authors that have just set out on their writing journey, dreaming their way towards new stories. One of these stories just so happened to begin at a point when the authors themselves became protagonists, superheroes in the fight against one powerful and cunning villain that mercilessly pollutes our planet: plastic.

For 7 months, we scouted these superhero authors in Slobozia, Turnu Măgurele, Oltenita, Mizil, Alexandria, and Urziceni. During the span of 72 comic strip and creative writing workshops we met many talented and creative children and learned about how they would achieve a #plasticfree world, a sustainable world for future generations. Turning themselves into superheroes, these young authors were joined by diverse characters and were inspired to reveal their own stories, the adventures of superheroes in the making that are fighting for a plastic-free planet.

Between the 7th and 30th of October, you can admire the comic strips created by these young superheroes (from the six aforementioned communities) on the fence and in the courtyard of the Filipescu Cesianu House, Bucharest Municipality Museum, as well as 12 short animation films (screening in the attic of the house) that were created during an urban camp.
